Examples of Network Connections
The PowerGate™ modem can be used in several ways. Most commonly, it will serve as an
interface for a PC to configure or monitor a PowerBus™ network using software applications such
as PowerBus™ Development Tool and PowerBus™ Installation Tool (see Figure 4 PowerGate™
Modem Used as an Installation/Configuration or Monitoring Device).

It can also serve as the interface for an application residing into a PC or RS-232 equipment to
collect and process data received from the PowerBus™ devices such as PowerBus™ Test Tool
and PowerBus™ Test PRO (see Figure 5 PowerGate™ Modem Used as a Regular PowerBus™
Device).
