Maintenance
Prior to work on the MAGIX, always pull the mains plug of the UV clarifier.
Clean the filter foam mat depending on the degree of soiling and the filter material
every two or three months using a bucket with pond water. Do not use tap water
as it contains chloride which can damage the bacterial culture. In autumn, before
the frost starts, the filter needs to be thoroughly cleaned even when taking it out of
operation.
Clean the UV clarifier twice a year. If algae growth increases over time or furring ap-
pears on the quartz glass tube
(H)
in the lamp
(F)
, it needs to be cleaned. Change the
lamp
(F)
after 8,000 operating hours, ideally at the beginning of the pond season.
1. Disconnect the tubes, let the water drain from the device and open the lid of the
pond filter.
2. Unscrew the lid on the housing of the UV clarifier and change the lamp, if neces-
sary.
3. The mounting of the quartz glass tube can be removed by carefully pulling the
transparent plastic rim
(see Fig. 1)
.
4. Clean the quartz glass tube with a suitable cleaning agent using a soft, clean
cloth. Avoid scratches.
5. When replacing the quartz glass tube into the housing, ensure that the joint
gasket is fitted properly.
6. To facilitate insertion into the housing, rub the white part of the quartz glass tube
mounting with Vaseline.
Safety instructions
• Position the filter such that the water outlet is above the water level of the pond,
so that the water can drain off without counterpressure
• Only use pond pumps with a maximum water flow rate of 2,000 litres per hour, or
use a two-way cock if your pump has a greater pump capacity
• With the cable outlet facing downwards, always place the mains plug into an
outdoors socket with a protective cover
• Never place the mains plug onto wet grass or a wet surface
• Do not use the UV clarifier when damaged, without circulatory water, if there is
a risk of freezing up during the winter months, when applying medicine, or under
water
• Avoid direct contact of the UV-C rays with the eyes or skin as this can cause
damage
• The working order of the lamp is visible through the transparent tube connecting
branches of the fully assembled UV clarifier
• Installation of the UV clarifier only to be carried out by a qualified electrician
