You have to refer to fig.2 for the packet structure, where the SOURCE and the DESTINATION fields
can be noted.
They are designed for network connection of several devices sharing the same line.
A typical case can be a mobile installation where several devices must interchange messages:
Taximeter, Printer, Dispatcher, Radio etc.
With this protocol, all of them can be connected in a network to the same line and detect whether
the received message is to be accepted or not.
This is not the case of a RS232 connection where the TxD and RxD are separated and defined so the
signals are physically routed to the proper receiver.
The device fields are bit mapped, so several devices may be addressed at the same time.
