Mechanical Combination Lock
Mechanical combination locks use a predetermined set of numbers to open the
safe door. A mechanical combination lock also has a keylocking feature that
prevents the dial from rotating until it is unlocked with the key.
Electronic Combination Lock
Electronic locks have a keypad for entering the combination. Different versions
of the lock use a single combination, a dual combination, or a remote access
feature to unlock the safe door.
Mechanical Keylock
The LaGard 2270 mechanical keylock is an optional secondary lock that can be
used together with the primary lock. The S&G 6880 mechanical keylock is an
optional primary or secondary lock that can be used with other locks.
Safe Handle
The safe handle releases the door after it is unlocked.
General Procedure to Open the Safe Door
1. Pay attention to the following recommended sequence when opening the
safe installed with primary and secondary locks:

The primary and secondary locks are usually of
different types.
• If the system uses an electronic lock as the primary or the secondary
lock, open the other mechanical lock
fi
rst and then open the electronic
lock.
• If the system does not use the electronic locks, open the secondary
lock
fi
rst and then open the primary lock.
2. Refer to Figure 2-22 to verify which primary and secondary locks are
used and unlock the safe.
3. Turn the safe opening handle clockwise until it stops (Figure 3-4).
4. Open the safe door.
