CARBON BRUSH WEAR INDICATOR LAMP

This machine is equipped with an LED lamp which will flash for 5 seconds when the machine is first switched
on after the brushes are 80% exhausted, to remind the operator that the brushes need to be replaced.
When the brush wear indicator flashes, it is only a reminder. It will not effect the operation of the motor.
Bring the machine to an authorized service center for replacement of the brushes and to reset the brush wear
indicator lamp.
Before you replace the brushes, first reset the brush indicator lamp according to the instructions below.

To reset (Qualified technicians only):

1.

With the machine unplugged, remove the 4 screws to open the switch box.

2.

On the electronics board, locate the small component labeled SW1/SW2 which has 3 conductors.There
is a small black bridge which will be positioned in the SW1 position, bridging the middle and righthand
conductors.

3.

Carefully slide the bridge up and away and then re-position the bridge on the SW2 position, bridging the
middle and lefthand conductors.

4.

Temporarily reclose the switch box, then plug the machine in and switch it on. It will not run, but after 5
seconds, the brush wear indicator lamp will flash rapidly. This indicates that it has been reset.

5.

Unplug the machine and reopen the switchbox. Re-positon the bridge on the original SW1 position,
bridging the middle and righthand conductors.

6.

Reassemble the switch box. It is now reset. Now replace the brushes.

THE CARBON BRUSHES

The carbon brushes are a normal wearing part and must be replaced when they reach their wear limit. This
machine is equipped with auto-stop carbon brushes. If the machine comes to a stop unexpectedly, the brushes
should be checked. The auto-stop brush design protects the motor by stopping the machine before the carbon
brushes are completely worn out.

Caution: Always replace the brushes as a pair.

To replace:

1.

Remove the 4 screws and remove the motor tail cover.

2.

Using pliers rotate the brush spring out of the way and  slide   the old carbon brush out of the  brush
holder.

3.

Unscrew  the  screw  to  remove  the  brush  lead.  The  old   carbon brush may now be lifted away.

4.

Install a new brush. Installation is the reverse of removal.

5.

Replace the motor tail cover.  Take care not to pinch any wires when reassembling.
