Blade Sharpening (Fig. K)
CAUTION:
Keep blade sharp for best performance. A
dull blade does not cut cleanly.
CAUTION:
When sharpening blade, ensure that
battery is removed.
CAUTION:
REPLACE BENT OR DAMAGED
BLADE IMMEDIATELY.
It is recommended that sharpening of blades be performed
by a factory service centre. However, blade edges may be
sharpened by using a fine tooth file
19
.
1. Run the trimmer until cutting blades
1
are offset.
2. Be sure the lock‑off lever is engaged, the blade has
stopped, and the battery has been removed before
sharpening blade.
3. Wear proper eye protection and gloves, and be careful
not to cut yourself.
4. Carefully file the cutting edges of the blade with a fine
tooth file. File toward the cutting edge
20
at the original
cutting angle (38 degrees from horizontal). File only the
straight cutting edges of the blades. Do not file where the
cutting edge curves into the centre of the blade.
5. Flip the trimmer over to sharpen the bottom blade.
6. Repeat steps to sharpen the opposite side of each blade.
