Hardware ports, switches and LEDs PROFIBUS DP
9.2.3
LED "(Bus) State"
Lights green
PROFIBUS in the state data exchange
Flashes green
Gateway waits for PROFIBUS communication data
Flashes green/red
Gateway waits for PROFIBUS parameter data
Lights red
General PROFIBUS error
9.2.4
LED "Power"
This LED is connected directly to the (optionally also electrically isolated) supply voltage of the
serial interface (RS232/422/485).
Note:
With the Option I/O8 the LED can take more states (see also chapter 8.4).
9.2.5
LED "State"
Lights green
Data exchange active; controllable via Script
Flashes green
Connection ok but no constant data exchange; controllable via Script
Flashes green/red
No data exchange since switching on; controllable via Script
Lights red
General Gateway error (see LEDs Error No.); controllable via Script
Flashes red
UNIGATE is in the configuration / test mode; controllable via Script
9.2.6
LEDs 1 / 2 / 4 / 8 (Error No. / Select ID)
If these 4 LEDs flash and LED “State“ simultaneously lights red, the error number is displayed in
binary notation (conversion table, see Annex) in accordance with the table in chapter "Error han-
dling".
9.2.7
Switches
The Gateway features 5 switches with the following functions:
Rotary coding switch S4
ID High for serial interface i. e. configmode
Rotary coding switch S5
ID Low for serial interface i. e. configmode
Termination (Profibus)
switchable ProfibusDP-terminating resistor
Rotary coding switch High PROFIBUS DP ID (High Byte)
Rotary coding switch Low PROFIBUS DP ID (Low Byte)
9.2.7.1
Rotary coding switches S4 + S5 (serial interface)
This value is read in when the gateway is switched on.
9.2.7.2
Termination (PROFIBUS)
If the Gateway is operated as the first or last physical device in the PROFIBUS DP, there must be
a bus termination at this Gateway. In order to do this, either a bus terminating resistor must be
activated in the connector or the resistor (220
) integrated in the Gateway must be activated. In
order to do this, slide the slide switch to position ON. In all other cases, the slide switch must
remain in position OFF. Please refer to the general PROFIBUS literature for further information
on the subject of bus termination.
Note:
To activate or deactivate the bus termination, please remove the bus-connector and care-
fully set the switch to the desired position.
