If the SM150T is inserted too close to the wall of a plant pot the sensing field 
can 

“see” outside the pot. This behaviour is shown in the graph below.  

 

 

For best results keep a gap of at least 25mm (1 inch) between the body of the 
sensor and the wall of the plant pot.
