The buttons have incorporated indicators which either light up or 
flash as appropriate: the meanings are indicated in brackets in 
the description. 

B1�  Indicator display (see “Description of indicators”)

button: to turn the appliance on and off   

(indicator 

flashing - the appliance is heating up; indicator on - the 
appliance is ready for use.)

B3� 

 button: to rinse or descale the appliance  

(white 

indicator  on  -  the  appliance  is  rinsing;  red  and  white 
alternate flashing indicators - appliance needs descaling)

B4� 

 button: to deliver steam to make cappuccino and 

milk based coffees   

(light on - the “steam” function has 

been selected;  light flashing - you must turn the steam dial; 
indicator fading - the appliance is heating up)

Indicator on: that the coffee grounds container 
must be inserted;

 

Indicator flashing:  the coffee grounds container 
is full and must be emptied� 

 

Indicator on: the water tank must be inserted;

 

Indicator  flashing:    insufficient  water  in  the 
tank�

indicates that “Energy Saving” mode is active�
