1.5.5.1 Device Bandwidth Limit

The

Device Bandwidth Limit

parameter defines the maximum bandwidth peak for

the PC-over-IP system. The bandwidth setting on the Host side defines the
bandwidth from the Host to the Portal (e.g. graphics data), while the Bandwidth
setting on the Portal side defines the bandwidth from the Portal to Host (e.g. USB
data). The maximum device bandwidth usable range is 3 to 220 Mbps.

The PC-over-IP system will continue to use only the bandwidth required up to the

Device Bandwidth Limit

maximum. Due to normal usage scenarios, this allows

effective bandwidth sharing, as it is unlikely that all PC-over-IP sessions will require
the maximum at all times.

A setting of 0 configures the PC-over-IP processor to adjust the bandwidth
depending on network congestion. If there is no congestion, there will be no limit, i.e.
up to the maximum rate available.

It is recommended to set Device Bandwidth Limit to the limit of the network
connected to the Portal and Host.

See Section 4.3 Bandwidth and Image Configuration Example for an example on
setting the

Device Bandwidth Limit.

Note: The Device Bandwidth Limit is applied immediately after selecting Apply.

1.5.5.2 Device Bandwidth Target

The

Device Bandwidth Target

parameter defines the soft limit on the network

bandwidth during periods of congestion (packet loss). When congestion is
experienced, the imaging network bandwidth will be rapidly reduced to the target
value, and more slowly reduced below this point. The intent is to allow for a more
even distribution of bandwidth between users on congested trunks. A good
