NOTE: Observe the routing of the cables on the chassis as you remove them from the system. You must route these cables
properly when you replace them to prevent the cables from being pinched or crimped.
Follow the safety guidelines listed in safety instructions .
Steps
1. Place the backplane on the expander module, aligning the screw holes on the backplane with the holes on the drive cage.
2. Using the Phillips #2 screwdriver, replace the two screws to secure the backplane to the drive cage of expander module.

Next steps
1. Reconnect all the disconnected cables.

Install the expander module .
3. Follow the procedure listed in After working inside the system .
Removing the backplane/midplane assembly
Prerequisites
NOTE: To prevent damage to the drives and backplane, you must remove the drives from the system before removing the
backplane.
