Display 2
: Oxidant tank is draining displays: “TANK DRAINING”
Display 3
: Oxidant tank done draining: “DRAINING DONE
Once the tank is empty, the “DRAINING DONE” screen will be displayed for 5 seconds. The unit then
turns on the water solenoid and purges the cell for 20 seconds. Following the 20 second water purge, the
unit returns to normal “RUNNING” conditions.
The other Standby Mode occurs when the system fails to reach the current operating window within the
allotted time given by the microcontroller. The first or top line of the display will read “STANDBY”. The
second or bottom line cycles two text lines for 3 minutes. It first indicates why the system is in Standby
Mode: “LOW CURRENT”. It then counts down from 90: “WAIT X”. Once the count reaches 1, the water
solenoid is open and a 20 second water flush occurs. The Display will read “WATER ON” and counts
down from 20. After the water flush, the unit proceeds to Running Mode and the controller brings the
amperage within the operating window. The Low Current Standby Mode is repeated three times. If,
after the third time, the unit cannot reach the operating window, the unit enters into Low Current Hard
Fault
Additional Displays
One additional screen that may be encountered occurs when the feed water supply is lost during normal
operation. The top display line still reads “RUNNING” (even though system is actually not running, but
rather in Standby Mode), while the bottom display reads “WAITING FOR FLOW”. If water flow is
restored the unit controller displays “WATER ON” and counts down from 20 seconds. The system will
then return to normal “RUNNING” Mode. However, if water is not restored within the desired time
(approx. 30 seconds), the controller sends the system into a “HARD FAULT” for “LOW FLOW” and
remains shut down until the water flow is restored and the system is rebooted.
Operating Window
The AE series automatic control system is designed to measure the concentration of the brine at the cell.
The electrolytic cell receives a 12VDC potential, which is displayed during the “RUNNING” Mode.
This
voltage enables the cell to reach the optimum current operating range, indicated by the amperage shown on
the display panel. The amperage should fall within the following operating range, depending on system
configuration.
AE-4 System
AE-6 System
AE-8 System
60A ± 3A
75A ± 3A
90 A ± 3A
During normal operation, the amperage will fluctuate between the high and low values shown in the chart
above.
