4.13 Parking brake
The Days Tilt ‘n’ Space is fitted with a tyre brake that can be operated by the user.
This must be used as a parking brake only. It is not suitable for use as a brake for
stopping or slowing the wheelchair! This is done with the hand rims by the exercise
of light pressure with the flat of the hands. Once the wheelchair has been brought to
a standstill by this method, set the two wheel brakes by pushing the brake lever
forward, the wheelchair is now safely brake.
The distance between the surface of the tyre and the brake pin must be 16
mm with the brake open at the closest wheel position X.
To adjust the distances loosen the two screws on the brake holder.
Then move the braking system along the holder to the correct position.
The brake pad must be horizontal, i.e. parallel to the floor.
