As an alternative, it is possible for a small fee to send the Q-Series back to DataPath when
they are to be scrapped.
Computer and Electronic Components
Computer and electronic parts should be sent for scrapping to an authorized local electronics
recycling company. These parts include:


Motor and gear house for elevation and azimuth drive

ComQT Controller
Reinforced Plastics
Carbon and glass fiber reinforced plastics can be ground into pieces and used as filling mate-
rials. Send to an authorized plastics recycling company for treatment. Reinforced plastic com-
ponents are found in:

Main reflector

Subreflector

Feed arm
Copper
Copper is a valuable metal and can be retrieved from the feed systems (wave guides) and
cables.
Aluminum
Aluminum is a valuable metal and can be retrieved from various small mounting details.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel should be separated from other metals (also from other steel elements). Com-
pared to ordinary steel, stainless steel is not magnetic. Stainless steel can be retrieved from
bolted joints.
Batteries
The QT Controller contains a lithium type back-up battery that should be retrieved and sent to
destruction.
Cables
Cables contain various metals and plastics. Send the cables (connectors disassembled) to
cable recycling company for destruction.
