7.3 Configuration of virtual data lines via TCP/IP
Data may be received from sensors via TCP/IP using the Ethernet ports on the DPU
The window for setting up local ports must be open. Click on
[add …]
to create a virtual line for
receiving data.
The ECDIS can both act as a client (the ECDIS is responsible for establishing a TCP/IP connection
to the sensor) or as a server (the sensor is responsible for establishing the connection to the ECDIS).
Note: TCP/IP connections will be disconnected by the ECDIS if no data is received/transmitted for
30 seconds. The ECDIS will, when configured as a client, try to re-establish the connection,
whereas an ECDIS configured as server will wait for the remote client to re-establish the
connection.
Note: It is a prerequisite for this function that one of the external network ports (Ethernet port 3 or
4) is enabled and configured with proper IP address
