This function compensates for the silhouetting effect of backlit objects (e.g. in front of
windows, glass doors or other sources of light) to the maximum extent possible.

WDR – Wide Dynamic Range

The WDR mode provides enhanced colour reproduction and detail resolution even in
scenes with a wide range of contrast and strong backlighting.
In WDR mode, wide dynamic range images are produced by combining long-exposure
signals of dark image areas (normal shutter speed) with short-exposure signals of very
bright image areas (high-speed shutter).
Note that in WDR mode, the so-called solarization effect (complete or partial reversal of
tones with extreme bright light sources) may be observed with some objects.
This phenomenon is unique to the WDR mode and is not an indication of a camera mal-
function.
Also note that the number of produced images (frame rate) in WDR mode will be half of
that during standard mode (
WDR
>
OFF
).
For example, with 1080p/30 only 15 frames per second will be produced.
The WDR mode >
AUTO
enables or disables the WDR function according to the prevailing
intensity differences between the dark portions and bright portions of a subject.
