Always follow the proper starting
procedure described below.
This motorcycle is equipped with a side
stand ignition cut-off system. The
engine cannot be started if the side
stand is down, unless the transmission
is in neutral. If the side stand is up, the
engine can be started in neutral or in
gear with the clutch lever pulled in.
After starting with the side stand down,
the engine will shut off if the
transmission is put in gear before
raising the side stand.
<PREPARATION>
Before starting, insert the key, turn the
ignition switch ON and confirm the
following:
The transmission is in NEUTRAL
(neutral indicator light ON)

1. Close throttle grip, and press starter
button.
2. If engine is not started, Repeat "1".

1. Close throttle grip and press starter
button.
2. If engine is not started with 1-2 times trial,
open throttle grip approximately 1/8 to 1/4
STARTING THE ENGINE
WARNING
Never run the engine in an enclosed
area. The exhaust contains poisonous
carbon monoxide gas that can cause
loss of consciousness and lead to
death.
CAUTION
Do not keep the starter button
pressed for more than 5 seconds at a
time. Release the starter button for
approximately 10 seconds before
pressing it again.
Check to see if the MIL is
for 3 second.
and press starter button.
Check to see if the side stand is in pulled
back.
3. Once engine is started, pull and release
throttle grip repeatedly to run engine idle
until engine is heated.
