5.2 Pack the column
Introduction
This section describes how to pack the column and the tools and reagents required.
Note:
It is important to read all of the information in this chapter before using the
column!
Items required for packing
To pack the column, the following items are needed, in addition to the Primer Support:

Cut the tubing to a suitable length.
Calculate column volume
From the table below, calculate the column volume (CV) for the dry Primer Support
corresponding to the intended synthesis scale. The values in the table correspond to
use of Primer Support 5G.

Note:
The Primer Support must be packed as a slurry.
The exact ratio is 0.111 gram Primer Support 5G per mL column volume.
Calculation to determine the CV:
3 × 3 × 3.14 × bed height in cm = CV in mL
