Move the shift lever back to the fast reverse position
•
then all the way forward again. There should be no
resistance in the shift lever, and the tracks should
keep turning.
If you have resistance when moving the shift lever or
•
the tracks stop when they should not, loosen the jam
nut on the drive control cable and unthread the cable
one turn.
If the tracks do not stop when you
•
engage the drive control, loosen the
jam nut on the drive control cable
and thread the cable in one turn.
Recheck the adjustment and repeat
•
as necessary. Tighten the jam nut
to secure the cable when correct
adjustment is reached.
To test further for correct adjust-
•
ment, if necessary, proceed as
follows:
WARNING: Run the
engine completely dry of gasoline
before tipping snowthrower.
Tip the snow thrower forward, allowing it to rest on
•
the auger housing. See Figure 5-4.
Remove the frame cover underneath the snow
•
thrower by removing the self-tapping screws.
With the drive control released, there must be clear-
•
ance between the friction wheel and the drive plate
in all positions of the shift lever. See Figure 5-5.
With the drive control lever engaged, the friction
•
wheel must contact the drive plate. See Figure 5-5.
If adjustment is necessary:
Loosen the jam nut on the traction cable and thread
•
the cable in or out as necessary.
Retighten the jam nut to secure the cable when
•
correct adjustment is reached.
Reassemble the frame cover.
•
Track Tension
Over time the track can stretch. To adjust the track
tension turn the flange lock nut on the front of the track
side plate. This pulls the “J” bolts attached to the axle and
tightens the tracks. See Figure 5-6.

Adjustments
IMPORTANT
It is not recommend-
ed that you operate
this snow thrower
on gravel as loose
gravel can be easily
picked up and thrown
by the auger causing
personal injury or
damage to the snow
thrower.
If for some reason,
you have to operate
the snow thrower on
gravel, keep the skid
shoe in the highest
position for maximum
clearance between
the ground and the
shave plate.
