Castling
This special move is made with the king and one of the rooks. The
king moves two squares towards the rook; the rook jumps over the
king, landing on the square next to it.
Note that a player may not castle in the following circumstances:
– If there is any piece (of either color) in between the king and
the rook.
– If the king, or the rook with which the player wants to castle,
has moved before.
– If the king is at present in check.
– If the square over which the king must pass (or, of course, the
square where the king would arrive) is under attack from an
enemy piece.
Before castling.
White has castled king’s side;
Black has castled queen’s side.
