Plug the soup well into a grounded, single-phase receptacle. Models will run on
either 100-125VAC or 200-240VAC drawing up to 900W. Check the rating plate on
the unit to verify correct voltage and wattage. Voltages below range can result in
less than rated power and slower heating times. This appliance is designed for
rethermalizing and holding soup only, using a bain marie. The soup pan should
not be placed directly into the soup well.
Note: For proper operation, an independent, dedicated circuit should be used
for up to 3 units installed on a 15amp (120VAC) circuit, or 4 units installed on
a 20amp (120VAC) circuit.
To operate all models:
• Press the Power button to turn the unit on. The green LED next to the power button
will illuminate. Press the Power button when you are finished to turn the unit off.
• To lock the controls, press the Lock button three times. The red LED to the right
of the lock button will illuminate to indicate the unit is locked. Locking the unit will
prevent temperature settings from being changed. The Power button will continue
to function while the unit is locked. To unlock the controls, press the lock button
three more times. Unplugging the unit when powered on will also unlock the unit.
• Press the Up and Down Arrows to select the desired temperature.
The default preset choices are:
• Fahrenheit Settings: 170, 180, 190, 200, HEAT
• Celsius Settings: 70, 75, 80, 85, HEAT
Additional temperature settings are available by changing the temperature settings
option. See “Changing the Temperature Settings” on page 5.
Note: When the unit is not in use for 5 minutes, it will enter a power save mode
where the Power LED will flash. Press any button on the controls to exit the
power save and return to the previous settings.
To rethermalize soup:
•
Place an 11qt (10.4 L) soup tureen water pan into the soup well. Note: If using a
7qt (6.6 L) soup tureen, an adapter ring is needed to ensure proper heating and
prevent damage to the appliance.
Adapter rings must be purchased as an
accessory through CookTek.
•
Fill the water pan with the appropriate amount of water.
• Place the soup tureen into the water bath and fill with soup.
• Use the Up and Down arrows to change the temperature setting to HEAT.
Note:
rethermalization is only possible when the display shows “HEAT.”
Other
temperature modes will only hold soup temperature.
• The display will flash the word “HEAT” when it is in heating mode and a pan is
detected on the unit. If the display does not flash, check that the pan is properly
seated in the unit.
•
Maintain the proper amount of water while the unit is operating in heating mode. In
the event that all water has evaporated, the unit is equipped with automatic boil dry
detection. If a dry pan is detected, the unit will stop heating and flash “h2O” on the
display. The unit will not resume heating until a sufficient amount of water has been
added and the insert pan has cooled to a safe temperature.
• When the soup has reached temperature, use the Up and Down arrows to change
the soup well setting to the desired holding temperature.
