6 Resolving malfunctions
The Continental eBike System recognizes malfunctions which are displayed by error codes in the
display

.
Malfunctions that are detected by the CeBS are displayed in the middle of the display. The error
code

displayed indicates the cause of the malfunction, making it easier to resolve it.
1. When the error code appears on the display, check for the malfunction immediately.
2. Press the button to acknowledge the displayed error code.
3. If you cannot remedy the error on your own, contact your bicycle retailer, who will investi-
gate the malfunction with service software.
When the service symbol

is visible in the display, this indicates that a service
interval has been exceeded either in km or time� This is not a malfunction�
The following table provides information on the meaning of the error codes and what to do to
resolve a malfunction.

M10/M12 Battery voltage too low Use the charger to charge the battery.
M11 Battery voltage too high Restart the CeBS by pressing the button on
the operating panel. If the malfunction persists,
contact your bicycle retailer.
M21/M23 Temperature sensor defec-
tive
M40/M41 Overcurrent in the motor Reduce the load on the motor by reducing the
speed or setting a lower support level.
M44 Motor overheating Reduce the load on the motor by setting a lower
support level.
M60 Contact fault in wiring har-
ness Inspect the cable and connectors of the CeBS.

M42/M43
M45/M46
M70–M73
M80–M84 Motor error Restart the CeBS by pressing the button on
the operating panel. If the malfunction persists,
contact your bicycle retailer.
