6. Notes on Batteries
and Rechargeable Batteries
Please note:
In principle, it is possible to operate the base station and the exterior unit with
rechargeable batteries.
However, due to the lower voltage of rechargeable batteries (rechargeable
battery = 1.2V, battery = 1.5V) and the lower capacity there is a shorter
operating time, the radio range is equally reduced.
When outdoor temperatures are low, rechargeable batteries are more sensi-
tive than normal batteries.
This is why we especially recommend the use of high-quality alkaline batteries,
to allow a long and safe service life.
• Keep batteries/storage batteries out of reach of children.
• Please observe correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when inserting the batteries/recharge-
able batteries.
• Never mix batteries with rechargeable batteries, use either batteries
or
rechargeable
batteries. Always change the entire set of batteries (or rechargeable batteries), never mix
full with half-full batteries (or rechargeable batteries).
• Do not let batteries/rechargeable batteries lie around openly. There is a risk of batteries being
swallowed by children or pets. In such a case, seek immediate medical care.
• Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries may cause acid burns when getting
into contact with skin, therefore, use suitable protective gloves.
• Make sure that batteries/storage batteries are not short-circuited or thrown into fire. They
might explode!
• Conventional batteries must not be recharged. They might explode! Only charge recharge-
able batteries which are intended for this purpose; use suitable rechargeable battery
chargers.
• In the case of disuse for a longer period of time (e.g. storage) take out the inserted batteries/
rechargeable batteries. Old age can make batteries/rechargeable batteries leak and cause
damages on the product!
