Depending on the type of garment/fabric to be steamed, there are
several ways of steaming:
1a) Grasp the nozzle with the steam nozzle facing away from you.
1b) Begin at the bottom of the garment and hold the ends of the
garment taut. Slowly move the nozzle from the bottom of
the garment to the top, allowing the steam to rise over the
garment. Smooth the fabric with your free hand.
2a) Grasp the nozzle with the steam nozzle facing away from you.
2b) Begin at the top of the garment and hold the ends of the
garment taut, whilst steaming down the garment. Smooth the
fabric with your free hand.
2c) You can also move the steam nozzle slowly sideways whilst
steaming down the garment. .
NB -
Be careful not to move the steamer nozzle too quickly over
the garment/fabric when steaming, otherwise water droplets could
begin forming on the nozzle and appearing on your fabric. Take
your time whilst steaming, as this will provide the best result.
Some garments are best steamed on the underside of the material.
But, as you begin using the steamer, you will become much more
familiar with steaming and you will find the most comfortable and
efficient way to steam.
NOTE: Test fabric for colour fastness in a small inconspicuous spot.
Drape linens, towels, handkerchiefs and napkins over a rod or place
on a towel rack when steaming.
Heavier garments and fabrics may require repeated steaming.
Repeat steaming as necessary. It takes
some practice to gain speed and efficiency and to learn that some
fabrics require multiple steam applications.
**Do not directly touch velvet, silk or delicate fabrics with the
nozzle. Lightly touch when steaming, to allow the to rise over the
garment.
