COMPAQ CONFIDENTIAL - NEED TO KNOW REQUIRED
External SCSI Cabling of a
SMART-2 Array Controller to
Storage Devices
Compaq SMART-2 Array Controllers are configured with one or two SCSI
buses. The SMART-2SL Array Controller is configured with one SCSI bus,
which may be connected to internal or external SCSI devices, but not both at
the same time. The SMART-2DH and SMART-2/P Array Controllers are
configured with two SCSI buses, an internal and an external. One or both
buses may be available for connection to external storage devices. If you want
both buses to control devices external to the server, you will need to bring
access of the internal SCSI bus on the controller to rear of the server.
To use both SCSI buses on a SMART-2DH or SMART-2/P controller:
1.
Remove a blank expansion slot cover from the rear of the unit, as shown in
Figure 4-6.
2.
Locate the internal/external Wide SCSI cable in the option kit, and connect
the cable by attaching one end of the cable to the internal connector on the
controller and the other end to the rear of the server. See Figure 4-6.
