Installing More Memory
You can expand computer memory by installing industry standard registered
Synchronous DRAM (SDRAM) Dual Inline Memory Modules (DIMMs) on
the Compaq system board. The following guidelines must be followed when
installing additional memory:

Use only 32-MB, 64-MB, or 128-MB; 100-MHz, registered SDRAM
DIMMs.
■
The DIMM sockets may be populated in any order.
CAUTION: Use only Compaq DIMMs. DIMMs from
other sources may adversely affect data integrity.
To install more memory, refer to one of the following installation sources:

For a text and illustrated procedure, refer to the installation
documentation that came with the option kit.

For a text overview of the procedure, refer to the procedure below.

For an illustrated overview of the procedure, refer to the Hardware
Installation and Configuration poster included in the shipping box or to
the processor cage Configuration Label located on the inside of the large
access panel.
To install a Compaq DIMM:
1.
If the computer is on, turn it off and disconnect the power cord.
2.
Disconnect any other external equipment connected to the computer.
3.
Remove the processor cage.
4.
Place the processor cage, component side up, on a flat surface.
5.
Locate the appropriate DIMM socket on the system board.
6.
Align the key slot on the bottom edge of the DIMM

with the tab in
the DIMM socket, open the DIMM socket latches, and insert DIMM
into the socket. The following figure shows installing DIMM on the
Compaq system board, next to the preinstalled system memory.
