Installing a Second Processor
(CPU)
To install a second processor, refer to one of the following installation
sources:
■
For a text and illustrated procedure, refer to the installation
documentation that came with the option kit.
■
For a text overview of the procedure, refer to the procedure below.
■
For an illustrated overview of the procedure, refer to the Hardware
Installation and Configuration poster included in the shipping box or to the
Processor Cage Configuration Label located on the inside of the large
access panel.
To install a second processor:
1.
If the server is on, turn it off and disconnect the power cord.
2.
Disconnect any other external equipment connected to the computer.
3.
Remove the processor cage, turn it over, and loosen the thumbscrew to
open the cage.
4.
Install the processor in the vacant Slot 1 socket and the processor power
module in the PPM socket next to the Slot 1 socket. Close the latches.
