A.2 Interpreting Error Messages
Most of the error messages you receive are in the standard format for
OpenVMS messages. The format is as follows:
FACILITY-L-IDENT, TEXT
where
FACILITY
Is the name of the program that generates the message.
L
Is a severity indicator with one or more of the following values:
Code
Meaning
S
Success
I
Information
W
Warning
E
Error
F
Fatal, or severe error
IDENT
Is the identification of the message text.
TEXT
Is one or more lines of information.

the OpenVMS and DECnet error messages.
A.2.2 Interpreting Gateway Utility Error Messages
DECnet SNA Gateway-CT and ST Management lists and explains error
messages you may receive from the Gateway-ST or DECnet SNA gateway
management software, such as SNATRACE messages, SNANCP messages,
SNAP messages, and SNAEVL messages.
