Service Preparations

CAUTION:

  Electrostatic discharge can damage electronic components. Be sure

you are properly grounded before beginning any installation procedure. See
“Electrostatic Discharge Information” in Chapter 2 for more information.

Before beginning any of the removal and replacement procedures, complete
the following steps:

 

1.

 

Turn off the workstation.

 

2.

 

Disconnect the power cord from the grounded AC outlet and then from
the workstation.

IMPORTANT:

  On a power-managed system, the power cord 

must

 be disconnected from

the grounded AC outlet when removing or replacing components.

 

3.

 

Turn off all peripheral devices and disconnect cables from the rear of the
workstation.

See Chapter 2 for more information on preparing the workstation for service.
