Entering the RMC
You type an escape sequence to invoke the RMC. You can enter
RMC from a modem or the local serial console terminal. You can
enter the RMC from the local terminal regardless of the current
operating mode. You can set up RMC parameters.

Invoke the RMC from a serial terminal by typing the following default
escape sequence:
^[^[ rmc
This sequence is equivalent to typing Ctrl/left bracket, Ctrl/left bracket, and
rmc. On some keyboards, the Esc key functions like the Ctrl/left bracket
combination.

To exit RMC, enter the quit command. This action returns you to
whatever you were doing before you invoked the RMC.

SRM Environment Variables for COM1
Several SRM environment variables allow you to set up the
COM1 serial port for use with the RMC.
You may need to set the following environment variables from the SRM console,
depending on how you decide to set up the RMC. See Chapter 2 for information
on setting SRM environment variables.
Table 4–1 SRM Environment Variables for COM1
Variable
Function
com1_baud
Sets the baud rate of the COM1 serial/modem port. The
default is 9600.
com1_flow
Specifies the flow control on the serial port. The default is
software.
com1_mode
Specifies the COM1 data flow paths so that data either
flows through the RMC or bypasses it. This environment
variable can be set from either the SRM or the RMC.
com1_modem
Specifies to the operating system whether or not a modem
is present.
