Clearing CMOS
If the power-on password is unknown, clearing CMOS will disable the password and allow the
computer to be operated.
The board shown is one used for the 5000/5100 Series computers. If you have a
4900 Series
computer
, click the link for the correct board and CMOS location.

Complete the
preparation for
disassembly procedures.

Remove the hood
.

Remove the fax/modem board
.

Open the system board bracket
.
NOTE:
If your board is different
from the one shown,

alternative boards used
on 5000/5100 Series

To disable the password, move the
jumper (J22) from pins 1-2 to pins
2-3 for 10 seconds, then return to
pins 1-2.

Replace the system board bracket and
perform the desired troubleshooting.
