relay contacts to open – which can then activate whatever system you wish to use to indicate
a Loss-of-Heading condition.
When the G2 is powered, and when its heading output data is valid, the relay coil is powered
by the G2’s processor, which closes the relay contacts; this indicates that the G2 is operating
correctly.
Note: Wheelmark/US Coast approved systems require a Power
Failure alarm. In such installations an audible alarm device must be
connected to the Alarm Output.
ISO 22090-3 compliant NMEA 0183 Alarm Output
ISO 22090-3 requires that the compass keeps updating its alert condition status through a
IEC 61162 port.
At power fault, G2 will shut down itself. Therefore the Audible alarm is the only available
output.
There are 2 alert conditions that will trigger
Audible Alarm output
and NMEA 0183 alarm
output. The 2 conditions are defined in Table 8.

G2 broadcast ALC and ALR at a regular base. When an alert condition changes, G2 outputs
ALR and ALF to provide the details of alert condition. All alert sentences are list in Table 9.
Devices that connected to G2’s serial ports can detect a power fault by monitoring HBT
sentence. HBT is also listed in Table 9.
