Conversation control
Headset operation
For this feature a headset must be connected to the GEC 881 / GEC 882. Headphones
without microphones are not recognized and therefore not supported!

Build up a conversation (bi-directional communication
connection) between the operator station and the outside
area. The LED changes to red.
ACTIVE
(during
conversation)
Terminate the conversation.
STDBY
(in standby)
Mute the inside microphone (possible only during
conversations).
After pressing, the speech of the outside party will be
audible on the inside, but the inside will not be audible for
the outside party.
This feature is also widely known as “cough button” and
used to suppress unwanted noise or conversation on the
inside.
By pressing the mute key again the conversation is
re-established.

Connect headset: The Counter Intercom System recogni-
zes the headset and switches to HEADSET MODE.
HS
ON
Disconnect headset: The Counter Intercom System swit-
ches back to NORMAL MODE (internal microphone and
loudspeaker).

OFF
Toggle between normal operation and HEADSET MODE
manually.
HEADSET MODE is automatically activated by connecting
a headset and automatically deactivated by disconnect-
ing.
Attention:
HEADSET MODE is not indicated in
standby! It is not possible to switch to HEADSET MODE
when no headset is connected (display “
NO
HS
”).
