7.3 Entering Account Codes

If the installer has arranged your telephone system for account
code entry, your telephone display may prompt you to dial a
code and then enter an account code before you dial a number
or after you answer a call. Account codes enhance the station
message detail accounting reports that businesses sometimes
find useful.
Code entry is either forced or voluntary. If forced, you must en-
ter a code to place a call. If voluntary, the system will accept
your call even if you do not enter a code.

NOTE: The system will always accept pre-programmed emergency num-

bers without an account code prefix even though forced code en-

try is in effect.

Since you must precede every account code entry with a fea-
ture code, you might want to use the procedure in section 9.6 of
this user’s guide to add an ACCOUNT CODE button to your
telephone. If you use an account code button in place of the
feature code dialing, the system does not place the call on hold
while you dial your account code.

To enter account code on an incoming call,

answer call,

to the call after you’ve dialed the complete account code.
