5.13: Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)
Refer to the accompanying diesel particulate filter manual (only supplied if a
DPF has been fitted) for further details.
5.14: Diesel Fuel
Diesel fuels specified to EN 590 or ASTM D975 are recommended.
Renewable diesel that meets EN 590 or ASTM D975 is acceptable for use at
all percentage mixture levels.
Required Fuel Properties
In all cases, the fuel shall meet the following properties:
Cetane number 45 minimum.
Cetane number greater than 50 is preferred,
especially for temperatures below -20°C (-4°F) or elevations above 1500 m
(5000 ft).
Cold Filter Plugging Point
(CFPP) should be at least 5°C (9°F) below the
expected lowest temperature or
Cloud
Point
below the expected lowest
ambient temperature.
Fuel lubricity
should pass a maximum scar diameter of 0.45 mm as
measured by ASTM D6079 or ISO 121561.
Sulphur Content for Interim Tier 4 and EU Stage IIIB Engines
Diesel fuel quality and fuel sulphur content must comply with all existing
emissions regulations for the area in which the engine operates.
Use ONLY ultra low sulphur diesel (ULSD) fuel with a maximum of
0.0015% (15 ppm) sulphur content.
