TEST PROCEDURE 13 – DISCONNECTED KILL WIRE
See General Warning, Section 10, Page 10-1.
NOTE:
Keep the battery connected while performing this test procedure.
1. Place the neutral lockout cam in the SERVICE (MAINTENANCE) position, put the Forward/Reverse han-
dle in the NEUTRAL position, and chock the wheels.
2. Disconnect the engine kill white/black wire at the bullet connector located next to the RPM limiter
(Figure 11-24, Page 11-27)

3. Start the engine in a well ventilated area.
• Pedal-Start vehicle:
Turn the key switch to the ON position. Press the accelerator pedal to start the
engine.
• Key-Start vehicle:
Turn the key all the way to the START position and release after the engine is
started. The engine will idle.
4. If the engine begins to run, test the engine kill circuit for a shorted wire or other failed components in the
engine kill circuit.

WARNING
• When the white/black engine kill wire is disconnected, the engine will not stop running after
the accelerator pedal is released (pedal-start vehicles) or the key switch is turned to the OFF
position (key-start vehicles). It will be necessary to pull and hold the choke handle until the
engine stops running.
5. If the engine does not run, proceed to Test Procedure 14 – Ignition Spark on page 11-27.
