guages and/or updated versions, please visit www.climbingtechnology.com.

1) TRAINING AND PHYSICAL FITNES.

Activities related to the use of device are

potentially dangerous and it must only be used by trained and experienced per-

sons. Before using the device, it is essential to: have received adequate training

and instruction and, where required, specific training for the use of the devices;

be familiar with the device; be in perfect psycho-physical shape.

Warning!

Con-

sumption of alcohol or psychotropics, including medication that may alter percep-

tion, balance and concentration, is to be avoided.

2) WARNINGS BEFORE USE.

Before usage: read carefully the general and spe-

cific instructions that must compulsorily accompany every device and ensure that

you fully understand them; ensure that all equipment is in perfect operating con-

ditions, that it is appropriate for the intended use and that all the elements and

components are compatible with each other; check that the system is assembled

correctly and that the various components work without interfering with one anoth-

er.

Warning!

Always check that any ropes used are compatible with the system:

in fact, some ropes can slide more or less depending on different factors (sheath

structure, surface treatments, inadequate diameter, wet or frozen ropes). Pay care-

ful

Attention

to any damage that may occur on the ropes due to rubbing against

abrasive or sharp surfaces. It is essential to make sure that the rope (and the other

components) is free to slide well away from abrasive surfaces, sharp edges and

other possible sources of friction.

Warning!

Do not use a device for activities that

exceed its limitations or for uses that are different to those intended! Each individu-

al is responsible for his/her own choices and actions: anyone who is not capable

of assuming this responsibility must not use these devices under any circumstances.

The responsibility of the manufacturer is limited defectiveness related to manufac-

turing and the materials used.

Warning!

There are many incorrect or erroneous

usage procedures and only the procedures indicated as correct are allowed: all

other possible usage procedures must be considered forbidden.

Warning!

Never use a device whose complete history is unknown to you.

3) MARKING.

The indications on the device can appear in different places de-

pending on the dimension of the device.

Warning!

  Do not remove labels or

markings and check that these are all legible even after use.

4) LIFE SPAN.

The actual life span of a device cannot be predicted precisely,

as it is influenced by many factors (environment of use, weather factors, storage

conditions, frequency and intensity of use, etc.). It can be limited even to just one

use, where it is involved in an exceptional event (extreme temperatures, contact

with harmful chemical agents or sharp edges, etc.). In case of doubts on the

functioning and good conservation state of a device, do not use it and contact

immediately your reference person of safety matters or the manufacturer.

5) ELIMINATION.

Stop using the device immediately: if the result of the checks

is not satisfactory; if you are not certain that the device is in a good condition;

if it has been exposed to an exceptional event or a hard fall: even if there is no

visible defect or degradation, its initial strength and resistance could be seriously

diminished.

Warning!

Destroy discarded products to avoid any further use.

6) TAMPERING AND REPAIRS.

Any alteration or tampering immediately voids the

guarantee, and is forbidden as it can compromise the safety of the device itself.

Repairs, where feasible, must be carried out exclusively by the manufacturer or by

staff that has been expressly authorised to do so by the manufacturer.

7) LUBRICATION.

If needed, lubricate any mobile parts of the metal devices using

only silicone based oil spray.

Warning!

An excessive quantity of oil encourages

dirt and dust to stick. Remove any excess oil using a cloth.

Warning!

 Check that

the lubrication does not compromise the interaction between the device and the

other components of the system (e.g. ropes).

8) MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING.

Avoid contact with sources of heat, abra-

sive and sharp objects, corrosive substances or solvents. Wash with clean water

and if necessary, add a small amount of neutral soap to remove persistent dirt; use

a clean and non-abrasive cloth. To disinfect, use diluted ammonium salts accord-

ing to the safety instructions provided with the product. If the devices is damp or

wet, leave them to dry out in the open air far from direct heat sources.

9) STORAGE AND TRANSPORT.

For optimal storage, put away the devices com-

pletely dry at room temperature in well ventilated areas. Do not expose the de-

vices to chemically aggressive substances, persistent dusts or dirt or environments

with high concentrations of salt. During transport, avoid compressions, exposure

to direct sunlight and contact with sharp objects. Do not leave the devices in the

car or in closed environments that are exposed to the sun.

10) GUARANTEE.

The guarantee is valid for 3 years as from the purchase date

and covers for any manufacturing defect or defect in the materials used. The fol-

lowing are excluded from the guarantee: normal wear, inadequate maintenance

and storage, incorrect or improper usage, unauthorised tampering or repairs, lack

of observance of the instructions for use. The manufacturer declines all liabilities

concerning the direct, indirect or accidental consequences, including any conse-

quence that derives from the incorrect use of the devices, including correct use of

the device in unsuitable situations that do not ensure proper safety levels.

SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS.

This note contains the necessary information for a

correct use of the controlled tree felling pulley for arboriculture. The device must

be used exclusively in the field of application indicated (controlled dismantling

of branches in arboriculture) and in full compliance with the permitted working

load limit indicated by the manufacturer (WLL).

Attention!

 This equipment is not a

PPE (Personal Protection Equipment): this product may not be used to lift or abseil

persons under any circumstances. A careful and thorough risk assessment must be

carried out before use in order to ensure that the work can be performed safely

and that other potentially safer means or equipment cannot reasonably be used.

The device must be used exclusively with arboriculture ropes Ø ≤ 15 mm.

Atten-

tion!

Do not use with metal ropes, slings or chains.

plate, button, attachment and pulley made of light alloy; pins and pivots made

of stainless steel.

2) MARKING (Fig. 3.2).

The following indications are reported on the equip-

ment: 1) Pictogram indicating the correct closure position; 2) Diameters of rope

that can be used; 3) Name of the manufacturer or of the person responsible for

placing the product on the market; 4) Working load limit (WLL); 5) Made in Italy;

6) Batch number; 7) Minimum breaking strength (MBS); 8) Logo that advises the

user to read the instructions carefully before use; 9) Product name; 10) Hazard

pictograms indicating that the device is not closed.

3) CONTROLS.

Before each use check that: the device does not have signs of

wear, cracking, corrosion or deformation; worn areas, the ropes used or any

stitching do not have cuts, signs of wear and tear, abrasion, corrosion or burns;

the sliding side plate and the pulley are free to rotate unimpeded and without

interference; there is no dirt or incrustation; the button does not jam; after being

pressed the button always returns to the lock position; when the sliding side plate

is moved to the working position (Fig. 5.3-5.4), the button snaps into lock position

and sticks out of the sliding side plate; the pulley is free to be positioned in the

expected direction of load application. During each use: always check the correct

positioning of the rope inside the device (Fig. 7.1); prevent the pulley and the rope

from leaning or rubbing on sharp parts and abrasive materials (Fig. 7.4-7.5); pay

Attention

to frozen or muddy ropes and to any foreign bodies that may prevent

the correct functioning of the system; regularly check that the device is functioning

correctly and the other system components are properly connected and arranged;

make sure the side plate is properly closed and locked (Fig. 5.3-5.4); ensure that

the rope remains taut to limit the effect of the falling trunk. Check that the device

allows the rope to slide freely in both directions (Fig. 6.1).

4) INSTRUCTIONS OF USE. 4.1 - Installation.

Press the button down (1) and

rotate the sliding side plate (2) clockwise until reaching the halfway position (Fig.

4.2). Press the button down (3) and rotate the sliding side plate (4) to complete the

opening (Fig. 4.3). Insert the loop of the anchor rope (A) in the attachment point

and the abseil rope (L) in the pulley (Fig. 5.1). Close the sliding side plate by ro-

tating it anti-clockwise and snapping the button twice (Fig. 5.1-5.3).

 Attention!

 To

check that the device is closed correctly, make sure that the button protrudes from

the sliding side plate and that the latter is properly locked in the working position

(Fig. 5.3).

Attention!

Do not use the device with the sliding side plate locked in

the halfway position because the indicated loads are not guaranteed (Fig. 7.7).

Do not use to lift or abseil persons (Fig. 6.2). Before use perform a functioning test

on the device to check it has been correctly installed (Fig. 6.1).

4.2 - Examples of

use.

The figures 8.1-8.2 represent two examples of correct connection of the pul-

ley to the trunk of the tree for controlled tree felling in arboriculture. The tree felling

pulley should be positioned immediately below the cutting zone via the anchor

rope. The work rope, previously inserted in the pulley, should be tied immediately

above the cutting zone. The free end of the work rope should be fixed to the base

of the tree using a braking system with which the operator can gradually stop the

cut piece from falling and lower it to the ground.

Attention!

 It is essential to con-

sider the position of the pulley with respect to the notch made on the trunk in order

to be able to limit the effect of the falling trunk: in the event of side positioning, the

pulley must be aligned to the axis of the notch (Fig. 8.2); in the event of frontal po-

sitioning, the pulley must be off-centre so that the rope in the direction of the load is

aligned to the axis of the notch (Fig. 8.1). The position of the chosen anchor point

is essential for safely stopping the fall and the operator must be certain that the

chosen anchor point and all the system components have the necessary resistance

to support the expected work load and all any unexpected load, including the

loads that may arise during emergency situations. The system must be installed so

as to avoid oscillations or unexpected and uncontrolled movements. It is essential

that the system is sized, positioned and managed so as to reduce to a minimum

the dynamic component generated by the piece being lowered of falling.

Atten-

tion!

During the maneouvres protect hands with work gloves.

5) MAINTENANCE.

Lubricate the device whenever necessary and at least once a

year. Correct lubrication involves cleaning the device, leaving it to dry completely

and applying the lubricant to the bearing, allowing the lubricant to be absorbed.

It is also recommended that the device is checked by competent persons at least

once a year.

6) LEGEND.
