
2. Change the carbon fitters.
a. If the water supply is chlorinated, the carbon filters
must
be replaced every three months. Check
with your local water department. Nearly all municipal water supplies are chlorinated. If the water
supply is not chlorinated (well water without a chlorinator) the carbon filter can be
eliminated. Membrane failure due to chlorine is not covered under the manufacturer's limited
warranty.
b.
To replace the carbon fitter, unscrew the filter bowl (as in step 1b above), and replace the carbon filter
with a new one
.
3. Visually check the amount of cartridge material remaining In the post treatment bowl.
a. The clear post treatment bowl allows for easy inspection of the post treatment cartridge, without the
need to remove the bowl. If the level of cartridge material remaining is less than 3 inches, as
measured from the bottom of the cartridge, replace the post treatment cartridge with a new one.
b. To replace the cartridge, unscrew the post treatment filter bowl (as in step 1b above), and
replace the post treatment cartridge with a new one.
NOTE:
The expected life of the post treatment cartridge depends upon the local water conditions, and
can be six months to a year, or more.
