SECURING COVER SKIRT
The cover skirt is the portion of the main cover that extends
beyond the cover conduit along each side of the cover.
When the main cover for this building is installed properly,
the cover skirt drapes on top of each roof of the outrigger
frames. See the diagram below.
To keep the skirt in place, it must be fastened to the frame
or outrigger roof or both. There are different ways to secure
the cover skirt.
NOTE:
It is the customer's responsibility to determine the
best way to secure the cover skirt base on how the building
is used and other regional factors.
The dashed line shows the
location of the cover skirt
for the side of the building
shown.
4. Select the curved section of flashing and install it as
previously described.
NOTE:
When overlapping individual sections of
flashing, slide the lower section under the edge of the
upper section.
5. After installing the curved section, cut the final section
of flashing to length to reach the ground and to finish
the run.
6. Repeat the procedures to install the flashing for the
remaining ends of the outrigger frames.
NOTE:
When installing the flashing on the door ends of
the frames, notch the flashing so that it fits around the
bracket mounting bolt for the slider track for the door.
7. After all flashing is installed, secure the skirt of the
main cover.
INSTALL FLASHING (CONTINUED)
The following procedure describes using 2" x 2" or
2" x 4" lumber and wood screws. The cover skirt is wrapped
around a board and the board is secured to the outrigger
roof from the inside to keep the skirt in place.
ATTENTION:
This procedure describes drilling holes
through the metal panels of the roof to allow wood screws
to be screwed into the board that the skirt is wrapped
around. If you do not want to drill holes through the roof
panels,
do not complete the following procedure
.
Consult a qualified construction professional (if needed) to
determine the best way to secure the cover skirt for your
building.
Materials to attach the skirt are not included with the
building.
These and any additional materials needed to
secure the cover skirt must be supplied by the customer.
1. Based on the length of the building, select the required
boards to reach from one end of the building to the
other.
NOTE:
Splice the individual boards together as needed
to create a single assembly.
2. Place the board assembly on the outrigger roof and
stretch the cover skirt out evenly along and on top of
the board.
3. Using the appropriate customer-supplied fasteners,
secure the cover skirt to the board every few feet to
keep the skirt in place.
