SMOKE LEAK DETECTOR
OPÉRATION GÉNÉRIQUE
All tests are carried out with the engine off !
• Smoke test
1. Turn off the ignition of the car. SYSTEM LEAK TEST REQUIRES that the engine is
turned off .
2. Remove the air fi lter. For some cars, the accelerator connections must also be
removed.
3. Clean the opening and be careful of sharp objects before inserting the adapter.
4. Put the adapter cone into the opening.
5. Connect the power cords to a 12V car battery. Note: Red clip to positive (+), black
clip to negative (-) For optimum performance, the automotive battery should be
fully charged. Do NOT use a DC12V switch mode power supply.
6. When the power supply is ok and secure, turn the on/off switch to ON, the power
LED will illuminate and the unit will start to generate pressurized air.
7. Using your fi nger, block the smoke outlet, read the value on the manometer, you
will get to know the default test pressure.
8. Introduce the smoke nozzle into the system via the inlet adapter cone, the system
will quickly be fi lled with pressurized air. When the system pressure becomes
stable, refer to the table below to determine if there is a leak.
No Leak
Small Leak
Massive Leak
8.1. If the pressure gauge reading reaches the test pressure and the black fl ow
indication ball drops to zero, there is no leak in the system.
8.2 If the pressure gauge reading remains between 0 and the test pressure, and the
black fl ow indication ball remains between 0 and 1, there is a small leak.
8.3 If the pressure gauge reading falls to 0 and the black fl ow indicator ball remains
above 2, a large leak is present.
9. If there is a leak in the system, remove the smoke nozzle from the adapter cone
and press the Start/Stop button, the operating LED will light and the unit will
begin to produce smoke for a 5 minute operating cycle.
