Upgrading Chopper FPGA on PRP-2

Note

Upgrading Chopper FPGA on PRP-2 is supported from Cisco IOS release
12.0(32)SY11 and Cisco IOS release 12.0(33)S6 onwards.

When to upgrade?

You can identify the PRPs that require upgrade using the following ways:

A warning message is displayed in the console on router bootup for the PRPs
that require upgrade.

Example:

Upgrade Procedure

To perform Chopper FPGA upgrade on PRP-2, follow these steps:

Step 1

Ensure both RP's IOS software are upgraded to the release to be upgraded.

Step 2

Ensure the redundancy system is RPR+/SSO mode using

show redundancy

CLI.

Step 3

Ensure minimal non-critical traffic via the system. This command should be run
only in a maintenance window, as the upgrade can take 3-4 minutes maximum and
needs to be done at one single shot.
