Chapter 2 Installing Cisco MNM
Troubleshooting Common Installation Problems
How to unmount a
remote DVD-ROM
drive.
After you install CiscoView 6.1.8 from a DVD-ROM drive that is mounted
on the remote system, you must unmount that DVD-ROM drive. Here are the
steps for doing that:
1.
Log in to the local machine as root, and enter the following command:
#
umount /cdrom/cmnm
Note
Assume that cmnm is the directory where the remote DVD-ROM
drive was originally mounted.
2.
Log in to the remote machine as root, and enter the following command:
#
unshare -F nfs -o ro /cdrom/cdrom0
The DVD-ROM drive is unmounted.
You get the message,
“Cannot connect to
session” when you try to
start a Cisco MNM
session.
Make sure that Cisco EMF is running.
•
If Cisco EMF is not running, start it, and then retry starting Cisco MGC
Node Manager.
•
If Cisco EMF is running, check to see if the IP address or host name of
the Cisco MNM server has changed since Cisco MNM was installed. If
it has, follow the steps described for the next problem.
You get the message,
“System IP address
does not match database
address” when you try
to start Cisco EMF.
This can be caused by a change in the IP address or host name of the
Cisco MNM server that takes place after Cisco MNM was installed. Use the
following steps to correct the problem:
1.
Stop Cisco EMF:
<CEMF_ROOT>/bin/cemf stop
2.
If needed, update the IP address in Cisco EMF:
<CEMF_ROOT>/bin/cemf updateIP -m
3.
When prompted, enter the new IP address.
4.
If needed, update the host name in Cisco EMF:
<CEMF_ROOT>/bin/cemf updateName -m
When prompted, enter the new host name.
5.
Restart Cisco EMF:
<CEMF_ROOT>/bin/cemf start
Note
If the Management server address or name has changed in a
distributed configuration, make the necessary changes on both the
Management server and the Presentation server. If the Presentation
server address or name has changed, make the changes on the
Presentation server only.
