Chapter 2 Installing Cisco MNM
Performing a New Installation of Cisco MNM
Caution
Using the # character in the /etc/motd banner might cause SSH connectivity problems. The #
character might interfere with the scripts used in Cisco MNM. If you encounter problems
using SSH with the installation of the CEMF Crypto Add-on package and the SSH entry in
the /etc/services file, try removing the motd banner.
Caution
Do not use special characters, such as %, $, #, @, and &, in the SSH password because the
CEMF Crypto Add-on package does not support these special characters for the SSH
password.
Starting Cisco EMF
To start Cisco EMF, use these steps:
Step 1
Log in to the system where you installed Cisco EMF.
Step 2
Become the root user using the following command:
#
su - root
Step 3
Change the working directory to <CEMF_ROOT>/bin using the following command:
#
cd <CEMF_ROOT>/bin
Where <CEMF_ROOT> is the directory where Cisco EMF is installed.
Step 4
Use the following command to start Cisco EMF if the Cisco EMF background processes are not already
running:
#.
/cemf start
Note
Depending on your server, it might take 10–30 minutes for the Cisco EMF startup processes to
