Configuring RSPAN
The following sections describe how to configure RSPAN.
RSPAN Software and Hardware Requirements
You must have software release 6.3(1) or a later release to use the RSPAN functionality on the
Catalyst 4500 series switches or to use a Catalyst 4500 series switch as an intermediate switch in an
RSPAN session.
RSPAN supervisor engine requirements are as follows:
•
For source switches—Any Catalyst 4500 series switch supervisor engine
•
For destination or intermediate switches—Any Catalyst 4500 series or Catalyst 6500 series switch
supervisor engine
You cannot place any third-party or other Cisco switches in the end-to-end path for RSPAN traffic.
