Sample Program 5: On/Off Program with Cycle Length
Desired Effect:
To turn Circuit #4 On for 10 seconds every minute starting
at 2 p.m.
Plan:
Set Program #4 to turn Circuit #4 ON at 2:00 p.m. and OFF at
2:00:10, on a 1 minute cycle.

When the clock reaches 2 p.m., Circuit #4 will begin turning ON for 10
seconds and OFF for 50 seconds, over and over. If you disable Program #4
(
PROGRAM 4 OFF
) you will observe that the switching stops. When you
enable the program once again (
PROGRAM 4 ON
), you will see the switching
resume, but not until the next whole minute is reached. In other words, the
program has remained
in step
with the clock while it was disabled.
Sample Program 6: Program with a Day-based Cycle
Desired Effect:
To sample carbon monoxide emissions at the same time
during rush hour on Monday the first week, on Tuesday the second week, etc.,
that is, every eighth day.
Plan:
Set Program #12 to switch Circuit #2 on for 1 minute at 7:30 a.m. on
an 8-day cycle.
