off the Shear and remove its

Battery (18) before performing

any inspection, maintenance, or

BEFORE EACH USE, examine the

1.

general condition of the Shear.  Check

for loose screws, misalignment or

binding of moving parts, broken parts,

damaged electrical wiring, and any

other condition that may affect its safe

operation.  If a problem occurs, turn

off the Shear immediately, remove its

Battery (18), and have the problem

corrected before further use.

Do not

2.

19.2 VOLT NICKEL-CADMIUM BAT-

TERY (18).  With proper care, the

Battery can be recharged many, many

times.  Follow the steps below to en-

sure proper Battery care:

Always switch to a fresh Battery

a.

(18) when tool performance begins

to diminish.  Severe heat is most

destructive to a Battery.  The more

heat generated, the faster the Battery

loses power.  Never over-discharge a

Battery by using the tool even af-

ter tool performance is decreasing.

Never attempt to discharge a Battery

by continuing to squeeze the tool’s

Trigger (8).  When tool performance

begins to diminish, stop the tool, re-

charge the Battery and use the fresh

Battery for optimal performance.
The charging room temperature

b.

should be between 50° Fahrenheit

and 104° Fahrenheit.
If the Batter(18) has charged for

c.

approximately one hour but will not

power the Shear, the Battery may

need replacement.  Purchase re-

placement batteries only from Har-

bor Freight Tools.  Do not attempt to

repair the Battery.
Contact local hazardous waste

d.

disposal authorities for proper Bat-

tery (18) disposal.  Never set fire to a

Battery.

AFTER EACH USE,  keep the exteri-

3.

or of the Shear free of excess grease

and oil.  Use only a mild detergent

and damp cloth when cleaning.  Do

not use a flammable or combustible

solvent.  Do not immerse the tool in

liquid.
WHEN STORING, always store the

4.

Shear and its accessories in its Car-

rying Case (24).  Keep the tool in a

clean, dry, safe location out of reach

of children and other unauthorized

persons.
