TROUBLESHOOTING
The Connect to Wi-Fi Network section provides easy
instructions to connect to a home wi-fi network for most
applications. If you had problems connecting your FireStar XP,
try the possible solutions provided below.
I followed the Connect to Wi-Fi Network section but
I don’t see the FireStar XP when I scan for available
networks.
Is the FireStar II controller on the outdoor furnace powered
on? If not, turn it on, wait a couple of minutes and then use
your web-enabled device to scan for available networks
again.
Is the serial cable securely connected to both the FireStar
II controller on the outdoor furnace and to the FireStar XP?
Make sure that both ends of the cable are connected and
that you have tightly secured each wire into the proper
positions on the plug ends.
Is the FireStar XP plugged in? Is setting #9 set to 1?
Restart your router and try scanning for available networks
again. Refer to the documentation that came with your
wireless router.
Disconnect power to the FireStar XP, wait one minute and
then reconnect power.
Wireless security settings are rejected.
When entering your wireless security settings, remember that
WEP keys must be in hexadecimal (0-9, A-F) format and WPA
passphrases may be alphanumeric (consisting of both letters
and numbers). Special characters that can be entered with
the FireStar XP keypad are limited to “ @ - _ . / + ”. If your
passphrase contains special characters unavailable on the
FireStar XP, you will need to change your passphrase. Refer to
the documentation that came with your wireless router.
