3. Check that the window opening dimensions are
suitable for installation. The window must be
from 22 to 36-in. wide and the window must open
at least 14

-in. high. It is recommended that the
window sill be at least

-in. thick to support the
weight of the air conditioner. See Fig. 1.
NOTE: The top rail and the bottom sliding panels
at each side are offset to provide proper pitch
(

/
16
-in.) to the rear of the unit for condensate
draining. If the side panels are not used, this
pitch must still be maintained or condensate will
not drain properly.
4. For storm windows, remove the outer window
before installing the air conditioner. Remove any
screens that are in the window. If the storm win-
dow cannot be removed, read Storm Window
Applications section before proceeding.
5. Place the air conditioner on floor, table, bench, or
other flat working surface. Locate expanding side
panels. There are left and right panels.
6. Holding the expanding side panel in one hand,
gently pull the accordion center piece back to free
it from the top and bottom guide rails. See Fig. 2.
7. Slide the end of the accordion center of the side
panel into the slots on the unit cabinet. See Fig. 3
and 4. Slide the panel all the way down. Leave
enough space for the top and bottom guide rails to
fit into the unit cabinet.
8. Pull the top and bottom guide rails back around
the accordion center piece so that the accordion
center piece fits into the channel.
