Si noti che in alcune aree urbane il livello ambientale di CO può

essere elevato, questo può causare un aumento nel CO espirato di

alcuni ppm al di sopra di quanti sono normalmente presenti nel

respiro. In questi casi è possibile che un non fumatore superi il limite

della fascia dei 'fumatori moderati' (7 – 10 ppm).

La tabella precedente si applica quando l'unità misura il CO espirato

con l'interruttore in posizione centrale. Quando si misura la quantità

di FCOHb con l'interruttore nella posizione in alto, la spia rossa si

accenderà ogni volta che la misurazione del CO espirato raggiungerà

il valore di 7 ppm o lo supererà.
