Installation & Programming of the Smart Dialler
The installation and programming of your “CareAlert” Dialler has been
designed to be very simple. However if you do not feel confident in
following the step by step procedures, then it is advisable that you request
the assistance of someone who is able to do so on your behalf.
When performing the following steps please refer to the installation
diagram on the following page; it is recommended that you first program
your Smart Dialler
before
you install the battery and
before
you plug in
the “line” cable from the telephone wall jack.
1. Plug the AC/DC power supply adapter into a power point and the jack
into the back of the Smart Dialler. Turn on the power.
2. It should be noted that the Smart Dialler is NOT compatible with the
older style rotary Dialler telephones. It is easy to install your Smart
Dialler in conjunction with ANY phone, although wall mounted phones
can be more difficult to use due to the plugs being hidden behind the
actual phone. Follow these separate steps:
(a) Unplug your existing phone from the wall and plug it into the back
of the Smart Dialler jack labled “TEL”. If this phone has a large older
style moulded plug then you will need to use another more modern
phone to program your Smart Dialler.
(b)
YOU ARE NOW READY TO PROGRAM YOUR SMART DIALLER.
BEFORE CONTINUING WITH POINT “C”, PLEASE GO TO PAGES 7-10
AND CAREFULLY FOLLOW THE STEP BY STEP PROCEDURES
FOR PROGRAMMING.
(c) Now that your Dialler has been programmed using the phone cable
provided with your Smart Dialler, plug one end into your Smart Dialler
Jack labelled “LINE” and the other end back into your existing
WALL
phone socket. Make sure that the cable clicks into position. You can tidy
up all the cables upon completion of installation.
3. Place the 9 Volt rechargeable battery into the Smart Dialler as per the
instructions on changing the battery. Please note that the Smart Dialler
will still function without the battery, but without this battery fitted it
will cease to function if there is a power failure.
“A warning message stating that “mains power is not detected” will
sound once the battery has been installed if the power supply is not
connected or turned on at the switch. (see page 16).
Your Smart Dialler comes with a rechargeable battery for long life
protection.
